Council recognizes City Attorney Corrine Heine on her retirement
City council recognized Corrine Heine on her retirement after more than 11 years of dedicated service to the city. In her time serving as City Attorney with the city, Heine played a pivotal role in shaping the city’s legal framework, guiding the city through complex legal matters, and ensuring the city operates with integrity, transparency, and legal soundness. Her contributions have been invaluable, and her impact will be felt for years to come.
Council introduces an ordinance related to townhome development
Inland Development Partners has submitted plans to redevelop property at 11800 Wayzata Blvd., proposing construction of rental townhomes. City council provided comments and instructions and referred the project to the planning commission for review.
Council approves funding agreement for Affordable Homeownership Grant Program
City council adopted a resolution approving a funding agreement for Metropolitan Council Local Housing Incentives Account (LHIA) Affordable Homeownership Grant Program. The city was awarded $288,634 to build an affordable twin home on 5432 Rowland Road in partnership with Amani Construction. To fulfill the fund matching requirement of the grant, the land cost was written down to $1. Construction of the twin homes will commence in 2025.
Council approves West Metro Multi-Community Wellhead Protection Plan
Minnesota’s Wellhead Protection Program requires public water suppliers to develop local wellhead programs to protect groundwater sources of drinking water. The city is updating its plan with seven other communities in the west metro that use the same water supply aquifer. The plan is being completed with Metropolitan Council, which received a Clean Water Fund appropriation for the work and is providing the services at no cost to the city.
