Council accepts Community Tree Planting Grant
City council approved a $277,215 grant from the Metropolitan Council to support ash tree removal and replanting efforts on public property and road right-or ways. The Tree Planting Program will remove approximately 475 infested ash trees and plant 2,840 diverse, climate-resilient trees. The effort will improve safety, equity and canopy health in areas most impacted by the emerald ash borer. Volunteers and community groups will assist with planting, while the city provides maintenance using existing forestry budget funds. There are no matching funds required to implement to work under the grant.
Council approves rental apartment development
City council approved an ordinance and resolution for the redevelopment of Marsh Run III at 11800 Wayzata Blvd by Inland Development Partners. The plan includes demolishing the existing office building and constructing a four-story, 44 unit apartment building with enclosed parking on the first floor and rental units above. Approval includes a master development plan, site and building plan review, expansion permits, and variances.
Council accepts Joint Powers Agreement with Minneapolis
City council approved a Joint Powers Agreement (JPA) with the Minneapolis City Attorney’s Office to provide legal services on weekends and legal holidays. Minnetonka will pay $300 per month and the agreement is renewable annually for up to five years. The partnership ensures legal coverage during times when Minnetonka staff are unavailable.

The strategic plan is a living document that guides the work of the city. The city council accepted the quarterly update on the progress of the strategic profile action steps and key strategies, which in form city council and the community on the efforts of the city.
