Council approves Minnetonka Boulevard Trail project 

The city council adopted a resolution accepting plans and specifications authorizing the advertisement for bids for the Minnetonka Boulevard Trail project. The project will construct a high-priority trail segment along the north side of Minnetonka Boulevard from Tonkawood Road to The Marsh, improving safety, walkability and connectivity within the city’s trail system. The project is budgeted in the Capital Improvements Program (CIP).

Council recognizes outgoing Mayor Brad Wiersum

bradThe city council recognized Mayor Brad Wiersum for his more than two decades of dedicated service to Minnetonka, as he concludes his term at the end of the year. Council members and guests expressed appreciation for his leadership, long-term vision and deep commitment to the community. His contributions will have lasting impact on the city’s governance, public safety, parks and natural resources, housing, infrastructure and overall quality of life for residents. Speakers expressed gratitude for his integrity, dedication and unwavering commitment to Minnetonka. 

Council awards sale of General Obligation Utility Revenue Bonds 

The city council adopted a resolution awarding the sale of the $10 million General Obligation Utility Revenue Bonds, Series 2025B, following bids presented by Ehlers in the sale day report. The bonds will finance water and sewer utility improvements identified in the CIP and will be repaid through utility revenues over the next 20 years.

Council introduces ordinance to update certain fees 

The city council introduced an ordinance amending city code section 710.005 to update fees related to animal registrations, commercial kennels, alarm registrations and false alarms and inspections of state-licensed facilities. The changes reflect increased service costs and staff time and include adding a fee for state-mandated inspections. The ordinance also establishes a 5-percent credit card processing fee for payments over $5,000.

Council issues Small Business Saturday proclamation

The city council issued a proclamation declaring Nov. 29, 2025, as Small Business Saturday in Minnetonka. The proclamation highlights the vital role small businesses play in the local economy and encourages residents to support them on this day and throughout the year.
