Council to adopt 2026 budget, tax levy

Post Date:12/04/2025 9:42 a.m.

In September, the city council set the 2026 preliminary levy increase at 7.935 percent, which includes 2.6 percent for the continued implementation of the public safety master plan and 0.735 percent dedicated to future community facility and fire station improvements.

The council is anticipated to adopt the final levy Dec. 8.

What does this mean for the average homeowner?

City property taxes for the median-valued Minnetonka home ($521,300 for taxes payable in 2026) will see an annual tax increase of $169. The exact impact on specific properties depends on the assessed market value of each home. The numbers do not include any proposed increases from other taxing jurisdictions, such as the county and local school district.
