The Minnetonka City Council will appoint a new councilmember to fill its vacant Ward 2 seat.

At the Jan. 12 council meeting, city council directed staff to fill the vacant council seat via an appointment process. The appointed councilmember will serve the remainder of the term through December 2027.

The Ward 2 seat became vacant after Councilmember Rebecca Schack was elected to mayor in November.

Residents interested in being considered for the appointment may apply online or in person at city hall, 14600 Minnetonka Blvd. Application deadline is Feb. 4.

Applicants must reside in Minnetonka Ward 2, be 21 or older and be eligible to vote in Minnesota.
