Restaurant owners: Apply for a temporary outdoor dining area permit
Due to the governor's "Stay Safe" executive order and restrictions on restaurants, the city will issue temporary permits for new outdoor dining areas or to expand existing outdoor areas.
The permits will be valid for 120 days from the date of approval or as provided by emergency ordinance of the City of Minnetonka, whichever is shorter.
General application requirements:
- The application must be signed by the restaurant owner and property owner.
- A site plan is required. The city will accept an aerial with the temporary outdoor patio drawn on it. You can obtain an aerial of the property by accessing the Hennepin County Interactive Map system.
- Liquor service may not occur without: (1) an existing liquor license; (2) updated liability insurance; and (3) an uninterrupted fence enclosure.
- View the temporary outdoor dining area permit application (pdf) for a complete list of approval conditions.
Permit applications will be reviewed by city staff within two business days.
