Council approves Sherwood Lift Station Forcemain Replacement Project 

The city council approved a resolution for the 2026 Sherwood Lift Station Forcemain Replacement Project, ordering improvements; accepting plans and specifications; and authorizing the project to be advertised for bids. The project will rehabilitate an aging segment of forcemain along Park Ridge Drive to improve utility reliability and protect the city’s infrastructure and natural environment.

Council issues Black History Month proclamation 

The city council issued a proclamation recognizing February 2026 as Black History Month, honoring the contributions and legacy of Black Americans. The proclamation recognizes African Americans who live, work and visit Minnetonka and reaffirms the city’s commitment to equity, inclusion and respect for all. 

Council approves plats for Elevare 2nd Addition

The city council adopted resolutions approving plats with floodplain alteration permit and easement vacation for Elevare 2nd Addition, located at 2503 and 2505 Plymouth Road. The project relocates the shared lot line between the two properties in preparation for redeveloping the properties.

Council approves agreement for school resource officers 

The city council approved an agreement with Minnetonka School District #276 to provide two school resource officers from Jan. 1-Dec. 31, 2026. The partnership supports school safety and positive relationship-building between students and law enforcement. Under the agreement, the school district covers approximately 75 percent of the cost, with the city’s share estimated at $99,004.

Council authorizes traffic signal agreement 

The city council authorized a traffic signal agreement with the City of St. Louis Park and the Minnesota Department of Transportation for the replacement of signals at Cedar Lake Road and Trunk Highway 169. The agreement defines cost-sharing, maintenance and operational responsibilities for the project. The total estimated city share for the 2026 project is $650,000. 

Council approves recycling grant agreement 

The city council approved a residential recycling grant agreement with Hennepin County, allowing the city to continue receiving SCORE funding for its recycling and organics programs. The grant, which has historically provided about $100,000 annually, supports recycling services, organics recycling, education and waste reduction efforts. 

Council approves Firehouse Subs Foundation grant 

The city council approved a grant from the Firehouse Subs Foundation, awarding the fire department $25,256.75 in heavy rescue lifting tools and stabilization equipment. This in-kind donation will improve the department’s ability to respond to vehicle and rail emergencies.

Council authorizes joining amicus brief 

The city council authorized the city manager and city attorney to join the local government amicus brief in support of plaintiffs’ request for injunctive relief. The action allows the city the authority to join current and future filings addressing the impacts of the federal immigration enforcement efforts known as “Operation Metro Surge” on municipal functions. 

Council appoints members to boards and commissions

The city council approved the appointments of Ryan Kadet to the park board and Gretchen Sher and Sandra Johnson to the planning commission.
