Council approves funding for housing support programs 

The city council approved extending service agreements with His House Foundation to continue providing homelessness response and emergency rental assistance programs. Council also allocated an additional $150,000 from the Affordable Housing Trust Fund to support residents facing housing instability and prevent evictions. These programs provide critical support and help connect residents to stable, long-term housing. 

Council awards contracts for upcoming infrastructure projects

The city council awarded contracts for the:

  • 2026 Sherwood Forcemain Replacement Project to New Look Contracting, Inc. in the amount of $738,828, which is budgeted in the 2025-2029 Capital Improvement Program. The project will replace a segment of the sewer forcemain along Park Ridge Drive, helping maintain reliable wastewater service and protect the environment. Construction is expected to be completed during the summer/fall of 2026. 
  • 2026 Mill & Overlay Project to Northwest in the amount of $1,402,224, which is budgeted in the 2025-2029 Capital Improvements Program. The project will improve road surfaces throughout the city, extending pavement life and maintaining safe, high-quality streets. Construction will begin this summer and be completed by fall.
  • Minnetonka Boulevard Trail Project to Northwest in the amount of $1,415,777. The project will build a new trail along Minnetonka Boulevard, improving safety and connections for people walking and biking. The project is budgeted in the 2025-2029 and 2026-2030 Capital Improvement Program, and the budgeted amount will be amended to include funding from Hennepin County, with whom an agreement was authorized by council.

Council approves site plan changes to former Opus buildings 

The city council approved updates to the development plan for the properties at 10350 and 10380 Bren Road West, allowing for the removal of one office building and an enclosed connection between the buildings. The action also includes subdividing the property into two lots, while keeping the remaining building and parking areas in place. Any future redevelopment of the site would require separate City Council review and approval.

Council approves Cedar Lake Road and Ridgedale Drive Project

The city council approved plans and authorized advertisement for bids for the Cedar Lake Road and Ridgedale Drive Improvement Project, which will resurface streets and upgrade several traffic signals. The project also includes pedestrian and bike improvements such as new crosswalks, updated sidewalks and safer intersections to better serve nearby schools and neighborhoods. 

Council approves grant agreement for Inflow & Infiltration Grant Program 

The city council approved a grant agreement with the Metropolitan Council for the 2023 Inflow & Infiltration (I/I) Grant Program. The grant will reimburse the city for a portion of recent sanitary sewer improvement projects that help reduce excess water entering the sewer system. This funding supports reliable wastewater service and helps protect the environment.
