Meet Minnetonka's newest police officers: Peter Fellenz, who joined the department in January, and Travis Groth, who joined the department in March.

Peter Fellenz 

After graduating from college, Officer Fellenz knew he was looking for more than just a job, he wanted an opportunity to serve the public. His passion for adventure and solving problems made him a natural fit for a career in law enforcement. 

Fellenz started his career in federal law enforcement, and after 14 years of gaining experience across a variety of specialized assignments, he decided he needed to switch things up. His previous position required him to work in partnership with a number of local law enforcement agencies. Each time he worked with Minnetonka officers, he noted their professionalism and genuine enthusiasm for the job. 

"It's more than just a place to work, Minnetonka is a family that takes care of one another while serving the community," Fellenz said. "It's a place people genuinely enjoy coming to work, and that cannot be said for every law enforcement agency."

Travis Groth 

For 26 years, Officer Groth watched his father put on a uniform to serve and protect the Plymouth community. His father's dedication was his inspiration to pursue a career in law enforcement.

That journey began in high school as a police explorer with the Plymouth Police Department. After graduating from high school, he joined the Wayzata Police Department as a Community Service Officer before becoming a licensed police officer in 2022. While working alongside officers from neighboring agencies, he consistently noted the professionalism demonstrated by the Minnetonka officers. 

"Having worked with many officers in the metro area over the last three years, the professionalism on display for every call was something I wanted to be a part of and contribute to," said Groth.
