The city council approved a resolution for a conditional use permit, vacation and expansion permit, floodplain alteration permit and wetland alteration permit for the Xcel Energy Line 0734 project. Xcel Energy plans to replace 136 poles along an existing electrical utility line. The existing poles were installed in the 1960s, and they have reached the end of their expected life.
The city council authorized a grant agreement to offer rebates to property owners who replace specified water-using devices with approved devices that use substantially less water. Minnetonka was awarded a $61,000 grant from the Metropolitan Council through the 2026-2028 Water Efficiency Grant Program. Rebates for the 2026028 program will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Since 2019, Minnetonka has received $87,000 in funds and provided rebates to more than 250 properties through the water efficiency grant programs.
The city council approved an amended housing services agreement for the Homes Within Reach program. The program allocates funds for the the purchase residential properties to buyers with an income no greater than 80 percent of the area's annual median income. The agreement notes $250,000 in funding, which was previously allocated by the city council for the years 2023 through 2026.
The city council issued proclamations recognizing May as ALS Awareness Month, Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month and Jewish American Heritage Month.
The Disability Pride Month proclamation commemorates the enactment of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) while acknowledging the ongoing work to ensure a truly equitable, accessible and inclusive community for all.
