If you’ve attended a community event recently, you may have already met Officer Welbes.

Welbes joined the department in 2023, bringing five years of experience from the Hopkins Police Department, where she served as a patrol officer, detective, school resource officer, crisis negotiator and public information officer. That experience continues to shape her approachable, people-first style.

“This role is about being present and approachable,” Welbes said. “When people know who we are and feel comfortable reaching out, it strengthens trust across the entire community.”

As community engagement officer, Welbes focuses on building relationships in the community, partnering with local organizations and creating opportunities for community members to connect with the police department. She is also leading efforts to revitalize the department’s chaplains program, further strengthening and expanding support networks for both community members and first responders.

Through her work, Officer Welbes helps ensure the department remains visible, accessible and engaged while continuing to foster meaningful connections that help keep Minnetonka safe and welcoming community for all.
