This seat is currently vacant following the election of Ward 2 Councilmember Rebecca Schack as Minnetonka mayor in the 2025 municipal election.

In January, the city council directed staff to fill the vacancy via appointment process for the remainder of the term.  The ward 2 seat’s current term runs through December 2027.

The city council is currently seeking applicants to fill the vacancy. 

Applicants must:

• Reside in Minnetonka Ward 2
• Be at least 21 years old upon assuming office
• Be eligible to vote in Minnesota

Appointment process

The council will review applications and select candidates for interviews following the Feb. 4 deadline. Interviews are anticipated to be held at a public meeting in mid-February with appointment prior to March 6, 2026.
