Amanda Maxwell was appointed to the Minnetonka City Council in March 2026, filling a vacancy left by Rebecca Schack’s election to mayor. 

Prior to her appointment, Maxwell served six years on the Minnetonka Planning Commission, including one year as chair. She has been a Minnetonka election judge since 2020. 

Maxwell has a bachelor’s in chemistry from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, and a master’s of science and PhD in chemistry from the University of Minnesota. She is a research and development manager for medical device maker Boston Scientific, leading a team of engineers and technicians. 

Maxwell has lived with her husband and three kids at their home in Ward 2 since 2017. She spends her free time trying new recipes in the kitchen and exploring Minnesota state parks where her family is almost finished with all of the hiking club trails.
