Construction inspections are required to ensure work follows approved plans and meets city and state building codes. The number of required inspections varies depending on the complexity of the project.

There are four types of inspectors who specialize in the different areas of construction:

• Mechanical
• Plumbing

Code compliance

The Minnesota State Building Code, which is enforced by the city, provides minimum standards to safeguard life, property and public well-being. It regulates and controls the design, construction and quality of materials used in building projects. The City of Minnetonka has adopted the Minnesota State Building Code.
