Once an application is deemed complete, it is tentatively scheduled for upcoming meetings of the planning commission and, when necessary, the city council.

A project page is established on Minnetonka Matters, where a description of the project and submitted plans are posted. Additionally, postcard notices are sent to property owners and residents within at least 400 feet of the subject property. These notices include the date and time of upcoming planning commission and city council meetings where the application will be discussed. Members of the public can submit written comments to the assigned planner via the project page, email or letter.

The planner drafts several documents, including: 

• A written report summarizing the project and staff recommendation.
• Legal documents detailing the city’s approval or denial of the application, including the reasons for the decision (called “findings”) and any conditions of approval.

The public are encouraged to participate as much as they wish. While the city provides information and opportunities for feedback, the public is responsible for staying informed and providing timely, constructive feedback throughout the process.
