The Minnetonka Fire Department has a combination staff of full-time and paid-on-call firefighters. Fill out our interest form to learn more about joining the department.

On-call Firefighter Requirements

18 years of age or older
High school graduate or equivalent
Valid Minnesota driver’s license
Live within 15 minutes of a Minnetonka fire station
Ability to carry out responsibilities and provide good communications in a calm, positive and professional manner under emergency conditions
Successfully pass a thorough background check
Successfully pass the Fire Department-sponsored pre-membership physical examination, psychological test, pulmonary function test and physical agility test

Oct. 8	Written test at Minnetonka Fire Station 1, 7 p.m.
Oct. 9	Written test at Minnetonka Fire Station 1, 7 p.m. (alternate time)
October	Initial interviews
November	Follow-up interviews and chief's interviews
December	Conditional offers
Mid-January 2026	Initial onboarding meeting
