The Minnetonka Police Multicultural Advisory Council (MPMAC) is an engaged group of dedicated residents and individuals who are invested in the Minnetonka community. The committee advises the Minnetonka Police Department on how to better communicate with, serve and understand the needs of its diverse communities.

Goals

  • Strengthen police-community relations, in an effort to better understand the diverse needs of our community.
  • Help residents understand police procedures and laws while educating them about police activities.
  • Foster connections between police and diverse communities within the city.
  • Encourage positive interactions and effective communications between police and community members.
  • Empower residents to have a stronger voice in their relationship with the police department.
  • Partner with committee members to act as “champions” or “influencers” in shaping positive perceptions of the department and strengthening the community trust in law enforcement.

Eligibility

  • Live or work in Minnetonka
  • Embrace the diversity of our community
  • Are willing and eager to participate in challenging and meaningful conversations
  • Can act as a bridge between the community and police department
  • Will work collaboratively to enhance relationships between police and the community, specifically with immigrants and communities of color
