The Minnetonka Police Department works with Foundrop, a free service that helps recover lost and stolen property.

If you have located property that was lost by someone else, we are glad to assist you. Visit the Minnetonka Police Department lobby at 14600 Minnetonka Blvd. to turn found property over to police staff.

If you are in need of fingerprinting services, please check-in with the City Hall main desk. Public fingerprinting is available on a first-come, first-served basis on:

• Wednesdays: 12-12:30 p.m.
• Fridays: 10-10:30 a.m.

Fingerprinting is done in the booking area of the police department. In the event a booking is taking place or police staff are unavailable due to an emergency, appointments may need to be delayed or rescheduled.

 Make sure you have:

• Your social security number 
• A state-issued or federal ID

If possible, please refrain from using lotion before being fingerprinting. The residue can affect our ability to capture your fingerprints.

Fee

• $15 per fingerprint card
• Cash, check, credit and debit card forms of payment are all accepted.

Fingerprinting services will not be available on the following dates:

• Friday, July 3
• Wednesday, November 11
• Friday, November 27
• Friday, December 25
• Friday, January 1

Residents with a key lockbox are welcome to share the combination with the department to help emergency responders more rapidly enter your home in an emergency without damaging the entrance.

How it works

1. Purchase and install a lockbox near an exterior entrance
2. Store a spare key in the lockbox
3. Set the combination and contact our crime prevention team at 952-939-7650 to share the combination. The combination is added to the department’s dispatch software.

Residents can make reasonable changes to the combination as needed by reaching out to the crime prevention team.

A lockbox is also a good crime prevention tool, as it reduces the need to share or hide spare keys. When purchasing a lockbox, consider:

• Where will you mount the lockbox? Lockboxes can be mounted on a wall/door jamb or hung from a doorknob. (You may need permission from your association.)
• What kind of combination do you want? Lockboxes use push buttons or wheel combinations. A push button may be easier for someone with arthritis to use.
• Can you change the combination? Purchase a box where you can reset the combination to one of your choosing.
