The City of Minnetonka is constructing a new trail on the east side of Plymouth Road, from Hilloway Road West, heading south to Minnetonka Boulevard. The city is also burying electrical and communication lines from Hilloway Road West to Woodbridge Drive.

Survey work and utility burial began in Fall 2017, and construction begins in July 2018. The city council approved the project at the Aug. 14, 2017 council meeting.


Project updates

 

Nov. 1, 2019 update

  • This is the final Plymouth Road Trail Project update. All major construction and restoration is nearly complete. The trail is open and ready for use. 
  • The contractor is finishing pavement markings and working on miscellaneous cleanup items, including removal of cones and barrels. 
  • Railings will be installed later this winter.

Approximate project schedule

  • Fall 2017 – Burial of overhead power lines between Hilloway Road West and Woodbridge Drive, with survey crews beginning preparation (collecting data and marking the right-of-way) in Sept./Oct.
  • 2018 – Trail construction Phase 1 – Hilloway Road West to Amy Lane
  • 2019 – Trail construction Phase 2 – Amy Lane to Minnetonka Boulevard
