An Alternative Urban Area Review (AUAR) helps guide future planning decisions and produces a plan to avoid, minimize or mitigate identified environmental impacts during development. 

The Opus AUAR is a planning study that performs environmental analysis and projects the cumulative impacts of anticipated development in the Opus area. The Opus AUAR was developed in 2020 and finalized in early 2021.

Since that time, development within the study area has occurred. An AUAR and plan for mitigation must be revised every five years, so the draft 2026 AUAR update report includes all developments to date and updates to the development scenarios.

Redevelopment interest is extremely high throughout the Opus area, and the city expects that to continue. This study provides a better understanding of the area as a whole, identifies potential environmental impacts and helps make the development process more efficient.
