Home MenuWater Meter Replacement Project
Crews began replacing water meters in all Minnetonka homes and businesses beginning in 2024. Existing meters are nearing the end of their useful life cycle, and some no longer communicate properly with the equipment used to bill water users.
Installation of the new meter comes at no cost to home and business owners, but some preparation may be necessary before replacement can occur. All water services are required to have working shut-off valves on both sides of the meter. Ensure these valves are working, or hire a licensed plumber to install or repair valves prior to installation.
In total, this project will take roughly 4 years to complete. During the 2026 phase of the project, all remaining residential meters (approximately 9000) will be replaced. The city has contracted with Ferguson Waterworks and RMR Services to complete the meter installations.
